18.0: Specifies a precision-ground round bore internal diameter (ID) of exactly 18.0 mm to accommodate the tap's main shank.
14.0: Denotes the integrated internal square drive size measuring exactly 14.0 mm across the flats to lock the tap's driving square.

🎯 Standard Tap Compatibility

According to international tool shank standards, an 18.0mm round shank with a 14.0mm square is the official sizing configuration for a standard M22 or M24 Thread Machine Tap (under the standard DIN 376 specification tracking chart).

Unlike conventional spring collets used for drills and end mills, tap collets feature zero clamping range flexibility. The tool shank must exactly equal the nominal 18.0 mm diameter specification of the collet to seat and lock optimally. [1, 2]
