S (Shank Material): Solid steel shank, providing dependable rigidity for general internal thread-turning applications.
16/17 (Shank Configurations): Denotes a stepped or dual-dimension profile body. The clamping diameter is a standard 16 mm shank which steps down/tapers or works with a specialized 17 mm functional neck clearance. 
SIR (Series Type): Represents an Internal Right-Hand (R) Screw-on Threading Bar. 
08 (Insert Size / Pocket Layout): Designed explicitly to hold standard layout 08IR (Internal Right-hand) indexable carbide threading inserts. 
T20 (Maximum Boring Reach): Indicates a specialized safe maximum overhang or boring depth restriction up to 20 mm for the narrowest tip section before tool vibration or clearance issues occur.
Machine Setup & Pairings
Insert Compatibility: This pocket is machined exclusively to accommodate 08IR series laydown inserts (such as 08IR A60 profiles). This micro-sized configuration is highly popular for machining very fine, small-diameter internal threads (typically starting from an M10 or M12 minimum bore diameter). 
Turret Integration: To mount this 16mm round shank securely into a large CNC turret station, it can be paired with a reduction bushing, exactly like the Q50 16MMX100L Turret Sleeve reviewed earlier.
